VTG has been awarded a contract from Technip Houston to design and supply connectors, goosenecks and guiding systems for their Top Riser Assembly System for the Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) emergency response system in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM).
The project will see VTG integrate its Optima subsea ROV connector and VTG’s SPO Compact Flange into a guiding and soft land system. VTG Subsea Business Managing Director Chris Lee explains “Having deployed our Engineering Manager Nick Long to the Macondo incident last summer to supervise the tie in of VTG’s Optima subsea ROV connector to the emergency response system, VTG has been working with Technip Houston to develop a system that would ensure a slick repeatable installation of the equipment. Nick and his engineering team have developed the system as a result of utilising existing product previously supplied by VTG and bringing their innovative design philosophy into the project”
The system is due for delivery October 2011.
